Ampem Darkoa Ladies coach Charles Anokye Frimpong says his side are determined to settle their decisive WAFU Zone B CAF Womens Champions League qualifier against Edo Queens within 30 minutes of extra time and avoid a penalty shootout. The Ghanaian champions face their Nigerian counterparts in Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday, October 29, with the winner securing the zones sole ticket to the 2026 CAF Womens Champions League. The contest resumes from the start of extra time with the score tied at 2-2 after the original final, played on September 5 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, ended in a stalemate.Edo Queens initially won 4-1 on penalties, but the result was overturned following a protest by Ampem Darkoa over the failure to play extra time before the shootout.CAFs Appeal Board upheld the protest on October 16, ordering the teams to play two 15-minute periods, followed by a fresh penalty shootout if the scores remain level.Anokye says his players are prepared for the challenge and will use their final training session to fine-tune their approach. We are going to have our final pre-activation game this evening to wind up our final training towards tomorrow’s match, and we are well determined and well prepared to win this match within 30 minutes without even sending it to the penalty shootout so that we can stay in Egypt and continue with the Women’s Champions League, he told 3Sports.Ampem Darkoa previously defeated Edo Queens 2-1 in the group stage.Victory would place the Ghanaian champions in Group B of the continental tournament alongside defending champions AS FAR, USFAS Bamako and Kawempe Muslim Ladies. The competition runs from November 1 to 15 in Egypt.
